By-Appointment Tutoring

By-Appointment Tutoring

The ASC Tutor Lab offers by-appointment tutoring sessions during normal business hours with our Professional Tutors and Peer Tutors both in-person and online/virtually via Tutor Match (See Schedule an Appointment Tab).

Guidelines

The ASC only provides services for NFC students. Before you schedule a tutoring session, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our policies and procedures below:

  1. Students are asked to have their NFC ID with them at all times.
  2. Students may schedule tutoring appointments for the courses in which they are currently enrolled or for PERT/TABE remediation.
  3. All in-person, by-appointment tutoring sessions must take place in the ASC Tutor Lab.
  4. All online/virtual, by-appointment tutoring sessions take place via Tutor Match, and it is the student's responsibility to make sure their internet and computer are compatible, as well as to make sure there is minimal background noise.
  5. Students should make in-person or online/virtual appointments as far in advance as possible. Last minute and day-of appointment requests may not be accommodated.
  6. Students may only schedule one 50-minute session per subject per day.
  7. Due to high demands, back-to-back tutoring appointments cannot be scheduled with the same tutor, regardless of the subject.
  8. Students will be notified as early as possible if a tutor must cancel an appointment.
  9. If an emergency arises, students may cancel the tutoring appointment at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment. Please notify the tutor you have an appointment with.
  10. Students who do not show twice for tutoring sessions will lose the privilege to schedule tutoring by appointment sessions.
  11. Students will need the course textbook, class lecture notes, course syllabus, and description of assigned work at the tutoring session.
  12. Eating and socializing during the tutoring session is not appropriate.
